About

Many of you may wonder who I am, what I'm about, and why I do this. I think all of these questions can be answered using just 4 words:

Christian --- Wife --- Mother --- Creative

I think that the first 3 may be pretty self explanatory, however, for a little background information if you don't know me - I feel very defined by these three words in my everyday life.  I wake up every morning and start my day with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on my mind and in my heart.  I strive to live each day on purpose, using my abilities to honor Him.  Through this mindset, He helps me be the best wife, to Brandon, and mother, to Brant {5} and Brady {1}, that I can be!  Without Christ, I am nothing, so first and foremost, He's why I am here.

The fourth word, creative, may be what you know the least about. Ever since I can remember, I have been a "doodler." I am constantly scribbling something, writing myself little notes {decorated of course}, or trying to find an easier, more creative, and plain "funner" way to do something.  My LOVE for creating started back in high school when everyone was making little note cards to hang on their friends' lockers. I found I was pretty creative and enjoyed seeing people's faces light up when they received something they knew you took time to make. From there on out, I enjoyed making people gifts that included scrapbook pages, photo frames, friendship bracelets, handmade coasters, etc. I find pure JOY in making something for someone to show them they have value!

So you may ask, being surrounded by boys like I am, how did this little business, Covered in BOWS even start? Long story short, I find being "Aunt Lin Lin" to my nieces a lot of fun.  I don't live near them any more and I definitely want them to know how much I think about them, pray for them, and adore them.  I find the "girly" accessories and fashion to be interesting and fun {probably because I don't have to deal with it or worry about it.} So for Christmas 2011, I decided to use my creativity and make something handmade for my nieces.  I had never seen them wear any hair bows, so I thought some accessories may be fun.  I found a tutorial online and made some.  They were pretty easy to make and I found that I enjoyed the time I spent making something for someone I loved, so I made some for baby girls of some dear friends of mine, as well.  I prayed for each girl I was making them for, and really felt as though this was a neat way to show someone they are loved.  A dear friend of mine, Jillian over at JillyG's {go be a fan - she is awesome and all her profits are going to a great cause you can read about at her blog -Handmade by Jilly G's} kept after me about offering my bows in other ways.  So, from there, I started up the Covered in BOWS blog and my Facebook Fan Page.  The rest is history.  I keep finding new bows to try, taking suggestions from friends, and building up my product line. I have filled close to 20 orders now {as of March 2012} and I am loving every second of it.

I really do see this little business as a way to continue showing people that they have value and are important.  The time I spend making these items is spent in prayer {yes, when I find a quiet moment :)} and this is an aspect I will always keep included.  If you order some bows/accessories from me, not only will you be Covered in BOWS, but be sure you will be covered in prayer, too!
